For ages people have been writing, drawing, singing, creating. It has always baffled the artist to think of where this sudden burst of inspiration comes from, that suddenly so much could spill from within them, through their fingertips and onto the printed page. The ancient Greeks explained this through the Muses, a group of goddesses that provided people with inspiration, and each muse had a different purpose—love poetry, epic poetry, tragedy, history, and so forth. A muse. The Greeks weren’t far off, because you see, even if there are no mystic beings telling their stories through us, something is. Something is coming through. Many aspiring writers spend lifetimes searching for their muse, boundless talent locked away only because inspiration eludes them. This is what separates the true writer from the One Who Writes—the muse. The muse is more precious and more sacred than the Holy Grail, and many times more difficult to find. The muse is the point where the person stops writing, and becomes a channel for the words to escape. No longer is the writer in control, but the tool through which inspiration takes its shape. It is the point where the words change into ideas, where sentences become a story. Everything begins to connect, and as if under a spell the writer continues, not knowing where the muses are leading him, but just letting it spring from their fingertips. A muse can be anything that inspires, that makes us think, that prompts an idea. A muse lives inside us all, yet some are unable to reach it, to grasp it, to listen to it. Like the Holy Grail, many seek the muse, and yet they fail. There are a rare few, however, the Grail Winners among them, the pure of heart; and to those the muse will reveal itself.
